Presently, there are 14 prefectures (including 5 autonomous prefectures ,7 prefectures and 2 prefecture-level cities) and 87 counties (including 32 border counties, 6 autonomous counties) and 853 villages and towns (including 43 minority village) under the government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, including 32 counties (county-level cities) in border areas. The Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC) is an important component part of Xinjiang and has 14 divisions, 175 regimental agricultural and stockbreeding farms under it. The total population of XPCC is 257 million.
