Environmental protection

  The region's ecological environment has been improved during these years by sustainable development. The natural forests protection, the plain forestation, the protection of the desert vegetative cover and other projects have had a considerable progress and the living conditions of the local residents continue to improve. By the end of 2007, Xinjiang has built 28 nature reserves, accounting for 12.9% of Xinjiang's land area.
